Very berry dessert

1 × ½-oz/12-g package strawberry-flavored gelatin
generous ¾ cup unsweetened cranberry juice
1 lb 2 oz/500 g raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries, plus extra for decorating
1. Make up the gelatin according to the package directions, but use the cranberry juice to replace some of the water. Place a mixture of berries in the bottom of individual serving glasses or plastic cups and pour over the gelatin. Let chill in the refrigerator for 6 hours until firmly set. Serve decorated with more berries.
2. To make a striped layer dessert, use 2 contrasting colored gelatins. Place onequarter of the berries in a bowl and top with half of one gelatin. Chill until just set, then add more berries and half of the contrasting gelatin. Chill as before. Repeat twice more with the remaining gelatin, alternating the colors. Chill until firmly set.
